A short interview with Ralph about the forthcoming Bass Clef album is now up on the FACT site. Brief extract:

"It took a lot longer than the first album," Cumbers tells FACT. "It started off that I wanted it to be more like the live set than Smile, but then it totally took on a life of its own. Still underpinned by the usual brutal beats and bass, but a lot more nuanced and layered up, there's more to discover if you want to spend some time with it.
"I think it sounds a lot more 'up' and energetic than Smile, which is ironic as I was in a much darker place. Go figure."

More confirmed summer action for Bass Clef and Zun Zun Egui.
Bass Clef will return to Sonar in June, hit Fabric in July, play the Big Chill in August and visit Oslo in September.
Zun Zun Egui follow up their triumphant Royal Festival Hall appearance with another gig at a concrete modernist landmark, the Barbican (25 July).

This year's BAFTA for best short film went to the wonderful
'September', directed by
Esther May Campbell. 'September' also won Best British Film at the Encounters Short Film Festival in November 2008, and has been screened at the London Film Festival, as well as Nova Scotia, Milano, and St Louis festivals.

More confirmed gigs for Bass Clef and Zun Zun Egui.
Bass Clef will be flying pirate flags in: Chelmsford (Feb), Bristol, Leeds and London (March) and Carmarthen (April). You can also see him at the BLOC Weekend, taking place at the Butlins in Minehead, 13-15 March.
Zun Zun Egui will be supporting David Byrne at the Royal Festival Hall on 12 April. This is a special one - they're the only support, and you can catch them for free if you get there early enough - stage time is 630pm, and they pokay in the Ballroom.

New dates to announce for Bass Clef, ZunZunEgui and Thee, Stranded Horse
Bass Clef will be appearing at the Bloc Weekend (14-15 March) with (among many others) Aphex + Hecker, Carl Craig, Afrika Bambaataa, Lee Perry, Skream, Benga.
ZunZunEgui play Bristol (24/1), London (20/2) Manchester (22/2) and Trowbridge (14/3). Full details in the Live section.
Thee, Stranded Horse plays l'Arsenal in Metz on 23 January.

gig news - ZunZunEgui will be making their Swedish debut on 13 December at Stockholm's Strand club.
Thee, Stranded Horse have announced three new French shows.
Sadly the Bass Clef/ZunZunEgui show scheduled for 6 December at Miss Peapod's, Penryn, has been cancelled. Apologies to all planning to attend.
